Board Meeting Minutes

September 13th, 2012

• The business meeting was held at St. Jude Children’s research Hospital and was called to order at 6:05 pm by Jonathan Hardy, President.
• The minutes from the July 2012 meeting were submitted by Angela Phillips, Past-Secretary, and approved as written.  (Moved: Jamison, 2^nd: Clary)
• The treasurer’s report was presented by Clary, Past-Treasurer, and approved as written. (Moved: Jamison, 2^nd: Phillips)

 

• Student Laison Report – No report
• Old business discussed:
• Jonathan reminded the attendees about the blog page as a resource for contacting MSCLS and for information on job postings and meeting announcements
• Jonathan also asked attendees to encourage colleagues and co-workers to join MSCLS. He also asked everyone to renew their membership to MSCLS
• New business discussed:
• Krystal Triplett provided a tentative schedule for the meetings for the remainder of the year
• Jonathan emphasized the importance of getting students involved in a professional organization and suggested speaking with students to share that value. He would like for professionals to visit with students and perhaps have a student mixer again.
• Announcements:
• There are several job openings in the Memphis Area:
• Two positions are available in Molecular Pathology and one on night shift at St. Jude
• AEL has a two positions open, one in the core lab and the other in toxicology
• Adjournment:
• Meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm by Jonathan Hardy, President.
• After the business meeting, the continuing education session was presented by Dr. Josh Wolf, MD of SJCRH on the topic Sludge, slime and your blood stream: n update on central venous catheter infections.
