  • The business meeting was held at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Allied Health and was called to order at 6:03 pm by John Bandura, President.
  • Introduction of new officers by President John Bandura
    • PE, Jonathan Hardy

    • Treasurer, Donna Clary
    • Student Liaison, Rachel Hite
    • Parliamentarian, Melissa Heisse
    • Nominations Chair, Darius Wilson
    • Awards Chair, Linda Ross
  • The minutes from the June 2011 meeting were submitted by Krystal Triplett, Secretary, and approved as written.  (Moved: R. Rogers, 2nd: L. Ross)
  • The treasurer’s report was presented by Donna Clary, Treasurer. We have approximately $1600 in the account, and renewals are coming in.
  • Student Liaison Report: none given

  • New business discussed:
    • Linda Ross asked for volunteers to speak to students about membership
    • Goals for 2011-2012 to include more volunteer work as a society
    • Encourage renewals and new memberships
  • Announcements:
    • There are several job openings in the Memphis Area:
      • SFH-M, SFH-B, St. Jude
    • Next meeting
      • Lani Collins and Linda Pifer of UTHSC to present “Tick-Borne Diseases in Tennessee”, with meeting held at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis, lab conference room on September 8, 2011 at 6:00pm.

  • After the business meeting, the continuing education session was presented by Nonie Hicks, Jane Morgan, and Teresa Britt of UTHSC on the topic “Inter-professional Simulation: Making it Work”.

Qualifications:
·         Master's degree
·         Graduate of a NAACLS-approved Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology program 
·         MLS/MT credential
·         Current license/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
·         Three (3) years of college teaching experience in accredited MLS/MT program or equivalent work experience in medical laboratory science discipline
